Don't hide complexity behind mystery.
If an effect exists, you should be able to understand it and change it. A preset is a stack of ordinary effects and keyframes — nothing is baked in where you can’t reach it.
About
LiteSplice exists because I kept running into the same wall — and decided a wall I could see was a wall I could take down.
I edit every day. One of my channels is PUBG Mobile: short-form gaming edits, fast and formulaic, published daily. The other is movie edits: many layers, stacked audio, effects, keyframes, a lot of time in the graph editor.
For years I did both in CapCut, and I knew it thoroughly. It's quick and easy to live in — until the edit needs something it won't do, and then the answer is a workaround or nothing at all. I tried After Effects for the harder work. The power was there, but the workflow made every step feel heavier than it needed to, and I kept going back.
I was stuck between simple and powerful, and neither side had a reason to meet in the middle. So instead of accepting the limitation, I started building the editor I wanted to use.
The goal was never to copy either one. It was an editor that feels as direct as the simple tools and reaches as far as the deep ones — and that stays changeable, so the next limitation is something that can be fixed.
Design philosophy
The first things you reach for are right there, where you expect them.
Keyframes, curves, nesting, compositing — one step deeper, never in the way.
Every result can be opened up and traced back to what made it.
Your footage and your AI tools stay on your computer.
Decisions come from real edits, not from a feature checklist.
Product philosophy
If an effect exists, you should be able to understand it and change it. A preset is a stack of ordinary effects and keyframes — nothing is baked in where you can’t reach it.
If a parameter matters, it should be possible to animate it. So every parameter can be keyframed, and every keyframe has a curve.
Local AI keeps footage on your computer. The models ship with the app, which is why the installer is large.
Advanced capability should be discoverable a step at a time — there when you look for it, quiet when you don’t.
If editors need something, the product should have room to grow into it.
